Welcome to the June newsletter from St Peter's Church. In this newsletter you'll see the dates and times of our services this month, and details about what else we're up to as a church family.
In a few days’ time we’ll be celebrating Pentecost and the coming of the Holy Spirit. This is a hugely significant date for the church as we ask God to fill us again with the Holy Spirit and inspire and empower us to share the good news of Jesus. It is also the day we will be celebrating our Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
At first glance it seems like a clash of dates where one event is forced to detract from the other. However, on reflection maybe it is worth celebrating them together. Her majesty the Queen is not only the Defender of the Faith and Supreme Governor of the Church of England, but she is also a woman of great personal faith in Jesus. Whenever she has the opportunity, she speaks movingly about her faith and what it means to her. I often think that she is a much better preacher than I.
Perhaps the best way to celebrate Pentecost and the Jubilee together is to follow her example and to make the most of every opportunity to share our faith with others.

Worship Review
The worship review is complete. Thank you all for your honest responses. The new worship pattern will be shared with PCC and those involved in leading worship first and will then be shared with the rest of the congregation. The intention is for the new pattern to start from 3rd July and I’ll explain a little more about what the new pattern will be and the thinking behind it in the next newsletter.

Thy Kingdom Come
We are in the final few days of Thy Kingdom Come as we pray our way to Pentecost. I hope that you have found the Bible verses and prayer points for each day helpful. Don’t worry if this has passed you by you can still join in. Why not choose 5 friends or family members to pray for to come to faith. Maybe you could invite them along to one of our summer events or services.

After the service we’ll be having a picnic on the lawn and playing some garden games. Bring your own picnic, blanket and / garden chairs as we spend some quality time together. Please note the change of service time for this week, our service starts at 10:30am.

Prayer for June
Breathe in me, O Holy Spirit, that my thoughts may all be holy. Act in me, O Holy Spirit, that my work, too, may be holy. Draw my heart, O Holy Spirit, that I love but what is holy. Strengthen me, O Holy Spirit, to defend all that is holy. Guard me, then, O Holy Spirit, that I always may be holy.
