Safeguarding

At St Peter's we are  committed to putting into practice the policies and guidance of the Church of  England, and from the  Diocese of Leeds with regard to the safeguarding of Children and Vulnerable adults.  The PCC  is responsible for reviewing St Peter’s Safeguarding Policy on an  annual basis and Sue Lawson is our Safeguarding Officer providing information  and support. She  works closely with our Vicar, Paul, the Churchwardens, Miles and Denise, and the  Diocesan Safeguarding Advisors when any questions or concerns are raised. In  addition Sue advises on the need for any self declarations or criminal records  checks that need to be undertaken for our volunteers at St Peter’s.

Over the course of the past 12  months, we have set up a Safeguarding Forum at St Peter’s. This is to bring  together representatives from our various congregations and  ministries/activities at St Peter’s, to share ideas about how we can make the  Church more inclusive for everyone.  The Forum members have become our  Safeguarding “champions” and their photos and names are on display on the  Safeguarding Notice Board in the fellowship area alongside Sue’s contact  details, as well as the details of the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisors.

Our Safeguarding Champions

23/10 Sue is doing a number of DBS checks - you will be contacted if you are on the list to be done.
